Tintin was found in January 2023 by a building maintenance crew in a work camp in Saudi Arabia. It is likely that Tintin's previous family decided they no longer wanted him and dumped him on the camp for someone else to find. Luckily, the maintenance crew called our Saudi rescue partner and she scooped him up.
Tintin landed at Catoro on May 31 and has been in the loving care of our cat attendants since then.
Tintin is an absolute charmer, with a laid-back and relaxed personality that can only be described as horizontal. However, our joy at meeting Tintin turned into concern as we discovered that he may be battling a serious illness. After noticing changes in his health back in June, we brought him to our veterinary partner.
At the time, they found Tintin to be already quite ill from a seemingly longstanding but undiagnosed chronic illness. On July 20, Tintin was diagnosed with FIP.
FIP used to be a death sentence for kitties, but now there are options for treatment. They are not easy, and Tintin's treatment will take a minimum of 84 days to complete. But for us, it's worth it. We want to be able to say we tried our best for Tintin, no matter the outcome.
The cost of his veterinary care is already over $6,500. We anticipate spending around $12,000 on Tintin throughout the course of his battle with FIP. Every purchase of a Tintin sticker goes directly to his care.
